TÜV TRUST IT launches its first project on the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) – in collaboration with G DATA CyberDefense AG

Cologne/Bochum, June 2025

TÜV TRUST IT GmbH, part of the TÜV AUSTRIA Group (TRUST), has successfully launched its first project to implement the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) in collaboration with G DATA CyberDefense AG (G DATA). The goal is to provide practical support in implementing the requirements of the Technical Guideline TR-03183 issued by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), and subsequently to establish a quality management system (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015. This will position G DATA as a strong CRA partner for TRUST. The project kick-off took place at the G DATA headquarters in Bochum at the end of May.

Background: Cyber resilience as a regulatory obligation

With the Cyber Resilience Act entering into force in December 2024, the EU now requires manufacturers of digital products and services to comply with comprehensive security requirements. The transition period ends in December 2027 – after that, non-compliant products may no longer be placed on the European market. To provide early guidance, the BSI has published Technical Guideline TR-03183, which anticipates key CRA requirements. Manufacturers can thus align their products and services early on – a goal G DATA is pursuing consistently with this project.

Project highlights: Synergies between CRA and quality management

G DATA is among the pioneers in implementing the CRA. The company recognized early on that regulatory requirements not only strengthen IT security but can also serve as a foundation for building a comprehensive quality management system. In an agile pre-project with TRUST, CRA requirements, G DATA’s QMS objectives, and other framework conditions were analyzed and merged into a tailored project plan.

Outlook: A model for the industry

With this project, G DATA is sending a strong signal for proactive compliance and sustainable quality assurance. Thanks to the early start and strategic approach, the initiative serves as a model for the entire industry. TRUST and G DATA will regularly report on progress, challenges, and milestones – all the way to successful project completion. We’re excited!
