Make machine parks fit for the digital future

Experience Industry 4.0 in practice – this is possible with the free research evening at the Ruhr University in Bochum. Decision-makers from the industry are cordially invited.

On February 6, 2020, the medium-sized 4.0 competence center in Siegen, together with the software specialist mdk.digital, invites you to an information evening under the motto “Maximum efficiency and safety in your production”. The free event at the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany starts at 4.30 p.m. in the learning and research factory. The thematic focus is on the networking of machines to increase efficiency, the security of such systems and the associated data protection aspect. In particular, measures are also in focus so that industrial networking can continue to operate with fewer specialists.

“For us, the learning factory is a playground. Although we also manufacture real products for industrial partners, the production pressure may not be that high, so that we can try out a few things and do some research.”, says Henning Oberc, research assistant at the Ruhr University in Bochum.

The evening’s schedule is divided into four sections. Part one deals with the possibilities that the networked industry offers. Part two explains ways of technically networking old and new machines and retrofitting sensors, also known as retrofits. The third part revolves around the topic of security and in the last part visitors can see how they adjust teams to the systems and how to win suitable applicants for production, production and maintenance.

“In particular, the connection between the networking of machines and the recruitment of skilled workers is an important aspect in times of a lack of skilled workers,” explains Thorsten Laabs, Managing Director of mdk GmbH. With digital systems, it is also often possible to work well with small teams thanks to greater efficiency.

During the thematic program, participants have the opportunity to ask questions at any time and to interact directly with one another and with the experts from mdk.digital, the University of Bochum and TÜV Trust IT. The event is only held once every six months, places are limited to 20 participants to guarantee individual advice.
“We look forward to exchanging ideas with decision-makers and entrepreneurs who are responsible for a medium-sized industrial company and are open to efficient and digital processes,” continues Laabs. A buffet with snacks and drinks is of course provided.
